United Nations and PBwiki Partner to Provide Global Platform for Corporate Responsibility

San Bruno, CA, April 18, 2007 – PBwiki (http://pbwiki.com), the largest provider of wikis in the world at 150,00, has just added its most globally significant client yet. PBwiki is working with the United Nations on their Global Compact (http://www.unglobalcompact.org/).

The GC initiative is a collaboration of 4,000 companies and 700 organizations in over 100 countries, under the auspices of the United Nations, to create a worldwide corporate responsibility initiative and organization.

PBwiki is providing the means for the disparate signatories of the Global Compact to collaboratively author their guiding document, to discuss issues of importance and to nominate good corporate citizens and to create case studies for discussion. (http://globalcompact.pbwiki.com/).

PBwiki is providing the United Nations with the software and hosting they need to do the job across better than half the countries in the world, as well as advice and instruction on the best way to collaborate.

PBwiki co-founder David Weekly has an ongoing relationship with the U.N. He was a speaker and participant at the UN-led WSIS (Geneva '01, Tunis '05) and is the co-author of the UNESCO paper, “Using New Media.”

PBwiki and the United Nations are a good fit. Dialogue and the creation of accord are ideals for the United Nations in general and the Global Compact in particular. The adoption of PBwiki by the United Nations also points up the larger uses for "social media" and its centrality to distance-based collaboration.
